Les techniques de relaxation visent<em>&nbsp;\u00e0 obtenir une ma\u00eetrise de certaines fonctions corporelles et, par l\u00e0 m\u00eame, le contr\u00f4le de certains processus mentaux<\/em>. Elles diminuent le stress et apaisent l\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9. En effet, quand nous sommes stress\u00e9s ou anxieux, nos muscles sont tendus&nbsp;: la m\u00e2choire est serr\u00e9e, les poings serr\u00e9s, la vigilance exacerb\u00e9e. Ces tensions ne sont qu\u2019une facette du syst\u00e8me du stress qui s\u2019est activ\u00e9 pour faire face aux difficult\u00e9s.&nbsp; Nous nous pr\u00e9parons \u00e0 fuir ou \u00e0 combattre. D\u2019un c\u00f4t\u00e9 le syst\u00e8me nerveux sympathique agit lorsque nous sommes anxieux et stress\u00e9s puisqu\u2019il acc\u00e9l\u00e8re le fonctionnement de presque tous les organes. Afin de compenser et ramener du calme, le syst\u00e8me nerveux parasympathique intervient pour inhiber et ralentir l\u2019activation du premier. Cette crainte s\u2019estompe rapidement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La perception des sensations physiologiques int\u00e9roceptives (battements de c\u0153urs, tensions musculaires, fourmillements, etc.) peut engendrer de l\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9. Certaines personnes font l\u2019exp\u00e9rience pour la toute premi\u00e8re fois de ces sensations. En s\u2019exer\u00e7ant vous apprendrez \u00e0 apprivoiser ses sensations. La position passive pendant la relaxation peut \u00eatre compliqu\u00e9e pour elles.
